Just what we needed

Andrew David

Normally a trip to Port Renfrew means low tide at Botanical Beach provincial park as a day trip. this visit we wanted to go beyond port to see the ancient tall trees in the Avatar Grove. We stayed 2 nights at Remote Renfrew Riverside Retreat (;1-250-647-0087) which has recently been renovated by friendly new owners Diane and Ron. There are 2 cabins on 7 acres on an island in the middle of the San Juan river. bsolute peace and quiet ( apart from the warm welcome from Aspen the canine greeter.) A well stocked fire pit and wood stove kept us warm and content. There is river on both sides with a mix of bush and meadow. A great place to star gaze.

I didn’t want to leave.

Gillian Walsch - Western Canada

We just came home from Remote Renfrew and I can’t thank then enough for letting us stay. What an incredible place!!! The cabin is amazingly comfortable. And fully equipped with everything you need and more. Most importantly our 14week old Puppy absolutely loved the freedom. We could open the door and let him go and knew he was safe. Can’t wait for our next trip up already.

Perfect place to get away from it all

Ronaldo Alberto - London, UK

If you want to get away from it all and get some peace and quite with great facilities this is the best value place on Vancouver island. Very clean and in a great location near the main area of Port Renfrew. Didn’t see any bear or Elk, but wouldn’t hesitate to come back to the cabins to try again

Relaxing and Top Notch Accomodation

Jamie S - Leduc, BC

I stayed in Port Renfrew for two nights before embarking on the West Coast Trail. The cabin had everything anybody could ever want including books, crib board, all cooking utensils, hot plate etc. The bed was so very comfortable and I found myself thinking that I could easily stay a week in the cozy cabin that is surrounded by the most gorgeous scenery. There were elk wandering right in the yard and in the back of the cabin a river runs along. A short walk to the road and there were an abundance of wild black berries. I thought the price was perfectly appropriate for the clean, hospitable accommodation!!! Highly recommended!!

Would Not Hesitate to Stay Again

Traveller - Calgary, Alberta

It was clean, well equipped, quiet, and comfortable. BBQ, firepit + covered outdoor wood stove for when there’s a fireban(in our case), or it’s raining were very nice. Located on a beautiful property. Saw a bunch of elk, and deer. Would not consider staying anywhere else if I go back to Port Renfrew.

We are located in Port Renfrew British Columbia on Vancouver Island’s wild west coast between two arms of the San Juan River.

Our comfortable cabins are located on a quiet riverside 5 minutes from town. Our 7 acre wilderness setting is home to a local herd of Roosevelt elk and other Wildlife found on the island. Both cabins are well equipped with WiFi, a full bathroom,  well-appointed kitchenette and comfortable beds. Explore the property, walk the riverside, relax. Enjoy the barbecue and lawn games. Spend your evenings around the fire pit gazing at a night sky like you’ve never seen before.
